The Tonto National Forest is in the southernmost wilderness area on the Prescott National Forest. Hikes, backpacking, and horse riding are some of the recreational opportunities. In wilderness areas, mechanized equipment is not allowed. You can become involved in helping care for the Pine Mountain Wilderness by reading the USFS Wilderness Stewardship brochure.
