The largest state forest in Iowa is the Stephens State Forest, which has seven units and more than 15,500 acres. The forest is used to show how forest management works for Iowa woodland species. The Civilian Conservation Corp established the first Stephens State Forest in the 1930's and it is now a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
