About
You can find this campground on the east end of the Columbia River. The Columbia River Gorge National Park consists of a sacred place called Memaloose Island which sits in the water of the Columbia River. The bones of those that are killed in battle would be laid on the beach, as an early settler would have done. A granite monument at Memaloose marks his grave. The park can be reached through its main street to explore the east side of the Gorge. Visitors will want to look at the spring wildflowers, cooling shade and willow trees. The park sits in the middle of a grassy area and is great for observing the nightly performance.
