About

Meiss Country is a primitive, roadless area located on National Forest lands south of the Lake Tahoe Basin and offers a complete wilderness-like experience with beautiful forest meadows, picturesque mountain lakes, and wonderful scenic vistas. From the City of South Lake Tahoe, take Highway 89 south approximately 10 miles to the trailhead. Trailheads are accessible from Luther Pass (Highway 89) on the northern boundary and Carson Pass (Highway 88) on the southern side.
