The lake is 50 acres. The company closed in 1929. 34 camping sites have water and electric hook-ups in the Marathon Recreation area, which is about 15 miles east of Forest and 25 miles northeast of Raleigh. There are several types of fish at the lake and it is open to fishing. The dump station is here. The area hasVolunteer campground Host most of the time.
