The Lost Lake Trail is part of the Iditarod Trail. It is possible to get to the Alpine areas. The first 2 miles are through dense conifer forest. There is a 15 mile hike through the woods. It is possible to hike off the trail in the surrounding valleys. Backpackers are strongly encouraged to stay away from Lost Lake. Leave no trace and camp out of sight.
