Lake Houston Wilderness Park is a beautiful, lushly forested expanse of nearly 5,000 acres, located three miles east of New Caney. Lake Houston Wilderness Park is the only park in the department that allows overnight stays in cabins and campsites. The park has a variety of outdoor experiences for people of all ages, but visitors must bring their own bikes, fishing equipment, watercraft, and horses.
