The Park is close to the historical Fort Stevens officers quarters, Columbia River observation point, and the biking trails at Fort Stevens State Park. The park is a favorite to fisherman who find the convenience to their boats and the launching facilities unsurpassed. Hammond provides moorage for sport fisherman and boaters who return year after year for the salmon fishing and the moderate temperatures at the coast. Hammond is a small town of about 550 people. The town was incorporated into the City of Warenton. The town provides the essentials of groceries and restaurants including the Bouy 9,within walking distance of the Park. The ocean beaches at Battery Russell and the south jetty observation point are about 3 miles away.
