Perfectly situated in Big Cypress National Preserve, campers can enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature while experiencing the diverse Florida landscape. Natural Features: This campground is located in an old Florida pine forest. There is abundant wildlife freely roaming the area. Recreation: Bear Island offers a multitude of recreation opportunities such as hiking, fishing, hunting, birding, and off-road vehicle trails (permit required). Facilities: This is a primitive campground with no fresh water. Vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings with grills are available. There is no trash service within the campground, so please take your trash with you. Nearby Attractions: This is a remote campground with the nearest town approximately 35 miles away.
