Elrod Ferry is a summer day-use area located at Hartwell Lake, one of the southeasts largest and most popular public recreation areas. The facility is positioned on a narrow peninsula which extends onto Hartwell Lake, providing sweeping views of the 56,000-acre lake and offering an ideal setting for a party, barbecue or simply a day of water activities with the family.

Hartwell Lake is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. The dam and lake areas boast nine campgrounds and 15 day-use facilities that are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Surrounding vegetation allows for plenty of shade, and the 962 miles of shoreline provide numerous swimming beaches, picnic areas and boat ramps.
Recreation:
Boating and water sports top the list of popular activities. A boat ramp is available for visitors convenience, and three designated swimming beaches are located around the facility.
Facilities:
Elrod Ferry offers multiple picnic areas, complete with shelters, flush toilets and playgrounds. Parking is available on-site.
Nearby Attractions:
A hiking and biking trail is located nearby at Paynes Creek Campground.
