About
There is a peninsula on the east shore of the Hudson River. The park has camping and hiking areas, as well as the historic wine cellars and the oldest nature center in New York State. The Indians of the Wappinger Confederacy occupied a large fortified village on the high flat at the neck of Croton Point in the 17th century. This was one of the most formidable Indian fortresses in the south.
