About
The Mesa Ranger District office has a free permit. It is possible to request permits online or by email. The permit will be sent to you within 48 hours. The access point is from Apache Junction. The Idaho Street exit is 15 miles east of Mesa. Follow Idaho Street north for 412 miles. Take a right on McKellips and travel 12 mile to the road that leads to the Wolverine Pass. Go for 7 miles and then turn right on Tonto Road. Go north on Tonto Road for 14 mile and then turn left. Go to the other side of the road and follow it to the gate.
