About
A rustic three-room guard station cabin located on the Fishlake National Forest about 25 miles East of Beaver, UT. The cabin sits in the middle of Big Flat, approximately 2 miles after the pavement ends at Puffer Lake on State Road 153. The station was built in 1908 and provides a great base camp for recreation activities such as fishing, hiking, OHV riding, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, hunting, and wildflower viewing. Summer days are warm and evenings are quite cool. The site can accommodate a maximum of 50 people, but there are only 3 sets of bunk beds for a capacity of 7 people sleeping inside the building. *DURING WINTER & SNOW MONTHS, THE GUARD STATION IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY SNOWMOBILE OR SNOWSHOE. Please plan your stay accordingly. The cabin is equipped with a kitchen table and chairs, a wood stove, a propane single burner stove, and countertop. There is currently no water available on-site. Dishes, utensils and cooking pans are supplied. Towels, bedding, soap, water and any other needed supplies will need to be brought with the guests. A vault toilet is located adjacent to the cabin, plus a fire circle, benches, and a picnic table. Some lighting is available in the cabin powered by solar panels. During the off season (winter months), firewood is kept in the wood shed onsite near the cabin. Firewood may not always be stocked or available during the Summer months and guests should plan accordingly. - No pets are allowed in the Guard Station.- No smoking allowed in the Guard Station- No garbage service is available; pack-out all you pack-in.- No shooting within 150 yards of the facility.
