You can camp outside of developed areas in the national forest for free. If you stop in to one of the ranger stations, you can get a free travel management map. If you choose to camp outside of the developed areas, be sure to bring adequate water or be prepared to purify any water source before drinking. There is no requirement to camp in wilderness areas. The areas designated as "Day Use Only" are only open for a certain time.
