About

James Alderman built a homestead south of the Alafia River in Lithia in the 19th century. He created the crossing by cutting down the steep banks of the river. The site is now home to the Ford park, which is popular with hikers. The most popular attraction in the park is a 1.9 mile paved loop that leads to the north and south of the Alafia River. The loop is a hiker, dog walker, and bicycle friendly route that leads into shaded woods of cypress and oak trees. You can enjoy birdwatching, fishing, and hiking at the park. The park has four remote campsites for people who want a wilderness experience without being too far away.
