About This Trail
The trail is closed due to muddy conditions. The soil at Tom McCall is very clay like and can make for a dangerous trail in the rainy season. The trail is damaged when the trail is muddy. This is a great day hike. You get great views of the gorge and Mount Adams. There are wild flowers like lupine, paint brush, fox glove, and wild rose that can be seen. As you traverse the oak forest, beware of poison oak mixed in with the true oak. The south west trail and the adjoining hill have great views and are a great place to picnic. The trail is in a nature preserve. Dogs and bikes are not allowed.
