About This Trail

The hike to the firetower summit was small. The 73 foot fire tower on the summit of the mountain was manned until 1988. The summit is accessible by a gated road and hiking trail. The trail has been downfall and the remains of logging operations. This area was very busy in the past. The trail crosses an old concrete culvert and climbs over a stream. The elevation gain over this hike is 1000 feet. The trail can be difficult to follow at times with many old logging roads. The trail is marked with red discs. The sled trail runs west of the DEC trail to summit in winter. Hikers are not recommended during hunting season late September through early December because the trail crosses land used by the Blue Jay Hunting Club.
