About This Trail
It's known as Georgia's Little Grand Canyon due to its unique geological features. The soils are soft and erosive because of the elevation. The area was affected by farming practices in the 1800's. The soil and land eroded at a rapid rate after trees and vegetation were removed. In the 19th century, the ditches were cut and the erosion led to 16 canyons. The colors of iron Ore and other minerals can be seen as deep as 150 feet. There are two main canyon trails. The white blazed canyon trail runs around the canyons. It's mostly used by day hikers. The red trail is used by overnight backpackers and circles the park. The permit required for access to the six campsites is quoted.
