About This Trail
The trail crosses a low divide and goes into the drainage of the Roaring River, where you can see the top of Horseshoe Falls, which was damaged in the 1982 dam failure flood. The trail follows the old wagon road that led to the old dam at Lawn Lake. The trail goes through a forest at an even grade, with only occasional views of the peaks nearby, until it ends at a junction with the Black Canyon trail. The modern lake is lower than the original natural lake due to erosion caused by the 1982 dam failure.
