About This Trail
The park is currently closed due to flooding. It is said that Francisco de Coronado stopped to return to Mexico on his quest to find gold. A stone castle is on the hill. It was built under a Works Progress Administration project in the 1930s, and is said to be where Coronado stopped and decided to turn around. The trail at the base of the hill is different from prairie to forest to rocks. There are benches in the park to sit and watch the sunset.
