About This Trail
Las Trampas Regional Wilderness has a hiking and horseback riding program which gives users access to the remote and rugged areas. A park with a size like this allows visitors to escape and feel like they are secluded. It is better to carry a lot of drinking water. The Las Tambors and Theriaults faults are part of the Bay Area and provide an exposure to 4 types of geological formations. There are still remnants of ancient beach and shoreline in that formation. There are a number of Rock layers in the El Sobrante formation. It is believed that the Pinole Tuff originated from an eruption of a volcanic island.
