About

Imported description
Overview This 485,000-acre area, located along 81 miles of the Snake River, is home to the densest population of nesting birds of prey in North America and perhaps the world. Approximately 800 pairs of hawks, eagles, falcons, and owls nest in the lava cliffs and surrounding desert plateau. The area can best be seen by driving a 56-mile loop. Visitors can also see raptors by taking a raft or canoe trip through the area in the spring. Boating and fishing are popular activities spring through fall, on the Snake River and at C.J. Strike Reservoir. Many miles of trails offer outstanding hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Prehistoric Indian rock art can be seen at nearby Celebration Park.
