About This Trail
The Ranger Station said that this was the only part of the full loop that was open. This is a recording for the Flatwoods Trail. You need to register at the entrance and get the code for the gate that will allow access to the parking lot. The western part of the loop is a nice wide park service road. The eastern part of the loop follows the official Florida Trail and is very narrow. It is beautiful and worth the hike. There are so many birds in this wilderness that we saw a doe and buck. Airboats can be heard in the distance, but there is not much road noise. It would be helpful to take this trail in a clockwise direction.
